Crohn’s and Colitis Canada/CIHR/CAG National Competitions

The Canadian Association of Gastroenterologists (CAG) administers a national competition under the oversight of and with funding support from the CIHR Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes. Personnel support is funded 50/50 between CIHR and Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. Applications from IBD researchers at various early stages of their careers are considered. Provincial Research Foundation Partnerships

Students at the doctoral and post-doctoral research stages are also encouraged to seek funding from provincial funding organisations. Crohn’s and Colitis Canada now has partnership agreements to support IBD-focused researchers in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, and Quebec.   • Canada has among the highest incidence rates of Crohn's and colitis in the world.
  • 1 in 150 Canadians lives with Crohn’s or colitis.
  • Families new to Canada are developing these diseases for the first time.
  • Incidence of Crohn’s in Canadian kids under 10 has doubled since 1995.
  • People are most commonly diagnosed before age 30.
